A Brief History

Founded in 1889, the Columbia Club was established as a gathering place for civic leaders and community builders. Over more than a century, the Club has played a meaningful role in Indianapolis’ social and cultural life.

The current clubhouse overlooking Monument Circle reflects the elegance and craftsmanship of its era while serving as a modern home for members and guests alike. Generations of Columbians have celebrated milestones, hosted important conversations, and built lasting friendships within these walls.

Dining at the Club

Guests are invited to enjoy the Columbia Club’s dining venues throughout their stay. From casual gatherings to refined evenings, each space offers attentive service and thoughtfully prepared cuisine.

Hensley Grille - Dinner Service: Monday - Saturday, 4:00pm - 11:00pm
Harrison Room - Dinner Service: Tuesday - Saturday, 4:30pm - 10:00pm
Columbian Eats: Located on the first floor, grab a quick snack or a cup of coffee.

Guest Guidelines & Club Etiquette

As a private club, the Columbia Club maintains traditions that help ensure a comfortable and respectful environment for all members and guests.

We kindly ask guests to observe the following:

Members and guests should conduct themselves in a courteous and respectful manner at all times.
Guestroom floors are reserved for registered overnight guests.
Outside food and beverage are not permitted in public Club spaces.
Quiet hours are observed in guestroom areas to ensure restful stays for all visitors.

Our staff is happy to answer any questions regarding Club policies during your stay.

Dress Code

The Columbia Club maintains a dress standard appropriate for a historic private club setting.

General Guidelines

Business casual attire is appropriate in most areas of the Club.
Athletic wear, overly casual attire, or clothing with offensive language is discouraged in public spaces.
Hats should be removed in formal dining areas.
Certain events or dining spaces may require elevated attire.

If you are uncertain about attire for a particular event or space, our team will gladly assist.
