The Columbia Club Historic Preservation Foundation, Inc

The Columbia Club Historic Preservation Foundation, Inc. (“HPF”) was incorporated August 2, 2011. It applied for 501(c)(3) status on June 4, 2012 and received 501(c)(3) status as a public charity from the IRS on May 22, 2014. The HPF is an Indiana not-for-profit corporation created for the purpose of supporting charitable and educational activities at the Columbia Club. The HPF’s primary purpose is to raise funds to protect, maintain, improve and preserve the historic Club House building and property located at 121 Monument Circle, Indianapolis, Indiana (“Club House”). The Club House was built in 1924-1925 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

As noted in its IRS application, the HPF is a successor of the Columbia Club Foundation, Inc. (“CCF”). The CCF was formed in 1982 as an Indiana not-for-profit corporation and received tax exempt status the following year as a public charity. The CCF’s original mission was to conduct historic preservation activity with regard to both the Club House and Artwork at the Columbia Club. However, over the years, the CCF focused its preservation activities exclusively on the artwork at the Club House. Accordingly, the HPF was formed to carry on preservation activities with respect to the Club House. In this regard, the HPF plans to fund expenses associated with the external structure of the Club House (e.g., historic facade, roof and other external features) as well as internal infrastructure necessary to maintain or improve the integrity of the Club House structure (e.g., electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fire protection and similar infrastructure futures) (collectively called “Club House Preservation Costs”). Currently, the HPF anticipates funding the maintenance, improvement and preservation of the roof of the Club House. Accordingly, the HPF anticipates raising funds for Club House Preservation costs relative to the work on the roof of the Club House. Donations to HPF for its charitable purposes may be made through this website or by checks made payable to the Columbia Club Historic Preservation Foundation, Inc. (NOTE Attach list of the Board of Directors of the HPF and list of HPF officers).
